Roberts FIR, Safety Management System (SMS)

The Roberts FIR Safety Management System (SMS) which was initiated  at the beginning of 2018 was officially launched on 13th July, 2018 by the Secretary General, Mr. Badara A. Tarawaley, in the Conference Room of the Roberts FIR in Robertfield, Margibi County, Liberia. The Launch of the SMS was preceded by a laborious process which included the training of 52 staff members in Safety Management System, the appointment of a Safety Manager; the establishment of a Safety Committee; the establishment of a Safety Action Group; the establishment of a Safety Review Board and the development of  our Safety Manual and Policies.

Safety Policy

Roberts Flight Information Region (Roberts FIR) is dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of aviation safety in its operations. Our Safety Policy is designed to cultivate a safety culture, promote best practices, and enhance the overall safety of Air Traffic Management (ATM) within the Flight Information Region (FIR).

This policy outlines our commitment to aviation safety, establishes clear safety objectives, and provides a framework for continuous improvement in safety performance.

The policy applies to all personnel involved in operations within the Roberts FIR, including air traffic controllers, maintenance engineers and technicians, operational staff, and support teams. It encompasses all aspects of aviation safety, including Air Traffic Management (ATM), Communication, Navigation, and Surveillance (CNS), as well as emergency response.

SMS Reporting

Voluntary Safety Reporting

Roberts FIR voluntary reports are confidential and identification of the reporter is not mandatory. Even if the reporter identification is known to allow follow-up action, it will be de-identified in any case. This confidential incident reporting mechanism facilitates the disclosure of hazards leading to human error, without fear of retribution or embarrassment.
Voluntary incident reports are archived in the Safety Reporting System (SRS) and de-identified once any necessary follow-up actions are taken. These de-identified reports support future trending analyses to track the effectiveness of risk mitigation and to identify emerging hazards.
Reports can be submitted using the  the link below
