​Overview of the Roberts FIR AIS

​The AIS Aerodrome Unit is part of the Air Traffic Services Section of the Department of Civil Aviation. By agreement, the Central AIS Office of the Roberts FIR is responsible for the promulgation at international level the Integrated Aeronautical Information Package for the three Member States: (Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone), that operates the Aerodrome AIS unit at national level.

​AIP Supplement

AIP supplement (AIP SUP) publishes temporary changes of long duration (three months and longer) and information of short duration that contains extensive text and or graphic, supplementing the permanent information contain in the AIP of the Roberts FIR.

The Roberts FIR AIP is sub-divided into three sections namely:
General GEN
En-route ENR
​Aerodrome AD

​Aeronautical Information Circular

​Aeronautical information Circular (AIC) contains explanatory or advisory information concerning technical, legislative or administrative matters, as well as information on the long term forecast of major changes in legislation, procedures or facilities liable to affect flight safety.

​Migration of AIS to AIM

The 36th Assembly recognized the need for an AIM strategy and concept in this respect, as it was noted in the recommendation of the 2006 Global AIS Congress. A transition strategy is being developed to ensure the availability of real-time accredited and quality assured aeronautical information to ATM user in a globally interoperable and fully digital environment.
The following tasks have been carried out in the Roberts FIR under the strategic objective “Efficiency”:
Roberts FIR has developed a strategic roadmap action plan to support the transition from AIS to AIM.
Roberts FIR has developed service level agreement with States (Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone.
Roberts FIR has developed the AIS manual of standard.

​NOTAM

​NOTAM or “Notice to Airmen” List is a plain-Language presentation of all current NOTAMs Listed in the NOTAM checklist issued Bi-monthly. It also contains the checklist of current AIP SUPs and the reference numbers of the latest Roberts FIR AIP amendment, AIP SUP AND AIC issued
