The Roberts FIR is in the process of implementing an ADS-B system to be used for surveillance and air traffic control, already eight ground stations has been installed providing coverage for the entire airspace. Further activities for full implementation are ongoing.
The ADS-B when fully implemented can enhance air traffic flow, improves safety by providing a view of the air traffic situation to the Air traffic controllers. It can also enable the flexible use of the Roberts FIR airspace, wherein a pilot can be allowed to use direct routing to a destination and permits continuous climb and descent of aircraft when requested by pilots.
